Unravelling the neural mechanisms of psychotherapy for pediatric obsessive-compulsive disorder – A randomized clinical trial with MRI

The Research Unit at Child and Adolescent Mental Health Center (CAMHC), Copenhagen University Hospital – Mental Health Services CPH, Copenhagen, Denmark is offering a postdoc in functional and structural MRI analyses in collaboration with the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR) starting on January 1st, 2024.

The project is part of the clinical trial Treatment Effects of Family-based Cognitive Therapy in Children and Adolescents with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (TECTO), where the main aim is to delineate who will benefit from cognitive behavioral therapy treatment.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The overall research focus will be on working with the structural and functional MRI data already acquired from the TECTO project. More specifically, you will perform network-based analysis incorporating both structural and functional MRI data.

You will closely collaborate with the clinical research team to integrate the clinical and behavioral data into the neuroimaging analyses.

You will be part of the “Developmental Psychiatry” group at DRCMR (https://www.drcmr.dk/developmental-psychiatry) and have ample possibilities to interact with researchers who are working on related multimodal neuroimaging studies.

We expect

  • You hold a PhD degree in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
  • You are an expert in functional and or structural MR data analysis.
  • You are interested in computational modeling of multi-modal brain imaging data. Previous experience would be advantageous.
  • You have an interest and/or experience in mechanism/pathophysiology related to child- and adolescent mental health and developmental neuropsychiatry.
  • You enjoy being part of a multidisciplinary and international research team and integrating technological innovations into your neuroscience research.
  • You have documented programming experience in e.g., Matlab or Python.
  • As a person, you have a good team spirit, are innovative and constructive as well as possess research excitement.
  • You possess good English communication skills.

We offer
This post doc position is at the CAMHC with the daily activities primarily taking place at the DRCMR. The research unit at CAMHC is situated in Gentofte Hospital.

The unit works with clinical, translational, and epidemiological research approaches to a broad spectrum of child and adolescent mental health disorders. The unit is led by a professor collegium of four and the unit engages a staff of 50 people, including PhDs, postdocs, senior researchers, students, and administrators.

The DRCMR is situated at Hvidovre Hospital and houses a multi-disciplinary and multi-national research team with approximately 75 researchers and students from app. 20 countries.

CAMHC and DRCMR offer a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment. We strive for academic excellence in an environment characterized by collegial respect and academic freedom tempered by responsibility.

The Research Unit at Child and Adolescent Mental Health Center (CAMHC)
We aim to improve child and adolescent mental health by the development of more effective identification, prevention, and treatment approaches, based on the multi-disciplinary and collaborative scientific study of causal processes underlying the development of disorder using cutting edge methods and testing contemporary theories. This approach requires a strong connection between research and evidence based assessment and treatment for the benefit of patients and their families.
